DP World PGTI 2026 season tees off with record prize money and new leagues
The DP World Professional Golf Tour of India (DP World PGTI) has kicked off its 2026 season with 12 events across the country. This year’s schedule includes higher prize money, new partnerships, and a focus on growing the sport’s reach in India. Two marquee tournaments alone will offer a combined purse of US$300,000 (around Rs 2.76 crore). The season began with three tournaments in the first half, each carrying prize purses of Rs 1.5 crore and Rs 1 crore. In April, three more events followed, all with a purse of Rs 1 crore each. Cities hosting tournaments include Nava Raipur, Delhi, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Gurugram, Visakhapatnam, and Hyderabad.
DP World has signed on as the Title and Umbrella Partner for the tour, while Axis Bank joined as the Official Banking Partner. These collaborations aim to boost the tour’s profile and financial support. Additionally, the DP World PGTI launched '72 - The League,' India’s first franchise-based professional golf league, expanding opportunities for players and fans. Beyond competitions, the tour engaged with public stakeholders to discuss golf’s role in tourism and sports infrastructure development. The season also introduced NexGen events, designed to strengthen the professional golf development pathway for emerging talent. The total prize purse for 2026 stands at Rs 14 crore, excluding the Hero Indian Open.
The 2026 DP World PGTI season brings expanded prize money, new partnerships, and a broader geographic spread of events. With initiatives like '72 - The League' and NexGen tournaments, the tour is working to grow the sport’s future in India. The season’s total prize fund of Rs 14 crore reflects increased investment in professional golf.
