Uttar Pradesh's job boom: 9 years, 1 crore opportunities and rising
Uttar Pradesh has seen a major surge in employment and industrial growth over the past nine years. The state government, under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has rolled out large-scale recruitment drives and attracted substantial investments. These efforts have created millions of jobs while expanding key sectors like manufacturing and education. Since 2017, the government has filled over 9 lakh positions in various departments. The UP Police alone accounted for 2.19 lakh of these recruitments. Another 53,000 jobs were filled through the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Board between 2017 and 2025.
The education sector has also seen significant hiring, with more than 1.65 lakh appointments. Plans are already in place for 80,000 additional recruitments in 2026. Industrial growth has been equally impressive. The number of factories in the state now exceeds 31,000, with around 14,000 registered before 2017. Investment proposals worth Rs 50 lakh crore have poured in over the last nine years, expected to generate over 1 crore jobs. Of these, projects worth Rs 15 lakh crore have already broken ground, creating over 60 lakh employment opportunities. The MSME sector has played a crucial role, providing direct and indirect jobs to more than 3 crore people. Meanwhile, the Khadi and Village Industries sector has added 4.63 lakh new positions.
The state’s push for industrialisation and recruitment has led to concrete results. With thousands of new factories, record investments, and millions of jobs created, Uttar Pradesh has strengthened its economic and employment landscape. Further hiring in 2026 is set to continue this trend.
