Denny Hamlin pushes for NASCAR All-Star race at Nashville Fairgrounds by 2027
Denny Hamlin has suggested moving NASCAR’s All-Star race to Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway by 2027. The proposal comes after his recent victory at Dover, where he secured his third straight win at the track. However, the timeline for renovations may delay any plans for the Tennessee venue. Hamlin dominated the 2023 All-Star race at Dover, a gruelling 350-lap event. His victory marked his fourth win at the track since 2020. The driver’s success there has strengthened his reputation on the circuit.
Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway last hosted a NASCAR race in 1984. Since then, only ARCA events took place in 2015 and 2023. Hamlin’s proposal would bring top-tier stock car racing back to the city. The renovation plan for the speedway includes installing a SAFER Barrier, a key safety upgrade. But the project faces hurdles: it requires metro council approval and must pass three separate meetings. With an estimated 18-month construction period, a 2027 race appears unlikely.
The Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway project remains in early stages. Approval and construction timelines could push the All-Star race beyond 2027. For now, Dover stays the event’s confirmed location, with Hamlin continuing his strong record there.
