Dean returns to Arundel High for charity music festival honoring his roots

Dean, a former student of Arundel High School, will headline the Arundel Bands Together charity music festival on 23 May 2023. The event, organised by his former guitar teacher Ian Burns, aims to raise funds for the school’s music department—the same programme that helped launch Dean’s career five years ago. Dean first gained attention in 2018 when his performance of the national anthem at Arundel High School went viral. That moment marked the start of his rise in the music industry, leading to sold-out tours, chart-topping singles, and millions of listeners worldwide.

Now, he returns to support the community that shaped him. The festival, put together by Burns—who chairs the school’s music department—will directly benefit the programme’s future. Dean has often credited the strong arts support in Anne Arundel County for giving him the foundation to succeed. His success continues to motivate current students at the school. Many see him as proof that dreams in the performing arts can become reality with the right encouragement and resources.

Proceeds from the festival will go towards sustaining Arundel High School’s music department. Dean’s performance not only celebrates his journey but also reinforces the programme’s role in nurturing young talent. The event highlights how local investment in the arts can create lasting opportunities for students.
