Davao PUV drivers get P10-per-liter diesel subsidy to cut fuel costs

Public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers in Davao Region can now access a P10-per-liter diesel subsidy to ease rising fuel costs. The initiative, backed by national and local transport officials, aims to support over 4,400 jeepney and van operators across the area. Drivers are being urged to take full advantage of the savings before filling up their tanks. The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Davao announced the program following directives from President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., Transportation Secretary Giovanni Z. Lopez, and LTFRB Chairman Vigor D. Mendoza II. Their goal was to reduce financial pressure on transport workers as fuel prices climbed.

As of May 18, 53 gasoline stations in the region had already signed up for the scheme. By May 20, more than 100 additional outlets in Davao City were awaiting final verification before joining. Participating stations will display tarpaulin signage, making them easy to identify.

Eligible drivers can save up to P300 daily, with discounts of 30 liters per day from Monday to Friday. Over a week, each vehicle may claim up to 150 liters, leading to potential savings of P1,500. Station staff will check a driver’s eligibility through the Landbank app before automatically applying the P10 discount per liter at checkout.

LTFRB Davao’s Llanos encouraged all qualified operators to participate. The subsidy covers 4,468 diesel-powered public utility jeepneys and UV Express vans across the region. The program offers immediate relief for drivers facing high fuel expenses. With over 150 stations expected to join soon, more operators will gain access to the discount. Savings of up to P1,500 per week could help stabilise operating costs for thousands of PUVs in Davao.
