Dallas Mavericks fire Jason Kidd after three seasons as head coach

The Dallas Mavericks have parted ways with head coach Jason Kidd. The decision was announced on Tuesday, marking the end of his three-year tenure with the franchise. Kidd leaves the Mavericks with a 140-106 regular-season record and an 18-15 mark in the postseason. Under his leadership, the team achieved two 50-win seasons, reached the 2022 Western Conference Finals, and advanced to the 2024 NBA Finals.

Team President Masai Ujiri thanked Kidd for his professionalism and leadership. However, Ujiri also stated that the franchise is now seeking a new direction. The Mavericks have begun a comprehensive search for a replacement.

No further personnel changes are planned at this time. Instead, the organisation will evaluate its entire basketball operations staff to maintain competitive standards. The team’s goal remains sustained championship contention. The Mavericks have set high expectations for the future. A new head coach will be chosen after a thorough selection process. The franchise continues to focus on building a team capable of competing at the highest level.
