Chávez and Arce relive glory in emotional exhibition bout

Julio César Chávez and Jorge 'Travieso' Arce returned to the ring for a nostalgic exhibition match at Miguel Hidalgo Gymnasium. The event celebrated their legendary boxing careers in front of a roaring crowd. Fans were treated to a night of emotion, skill, and a tribute to a late boxing icon.

The evening began with heartfelt tributes. Both fighters honoured Eduardo Lamazón, the beloved TV Azteca commentator, before the bout. Chávez then made his entrance to a corrido detailing his life, waving to fans who cheered his long career. Arce followed, dancing to the rhythm of Sinaloa’s tambora drum, energising the audience.

The fight started with Arce taking early control. Using his speed, he pushed Chávez against the ropes, testing the older fighter’s defences. But Chávez responded in the second round, moving with sharper footwork and landing clean counters. By the final round, both men threw everything they had. Chávez unleashed a furious flurry in the last seconds, sending the crowd into a frenzy. The referee stepped in as the two warriors traded blows until the bell, leaving no doubt about their passion.

No winner was declared, but the night belonged to both fighters. Chávez and Arce proved their enduring spirit, thrilling fans one last time. The match served as a fitting celebration of their careers and the sport they love.
