Canada unveils Olympic-bound flag football rosters for 2026 worlds
Canada has announced its men’s and women’s flag football rosters for the upcoming world championships. The teams will compete in Düsseldorf, Germany, with a chance to qualify for the 2028 Olympics. Both squads aim to build on recent success after a strong showing in Panama City earlier this year. Retired CFL safety Marc-Antoine Dequoy has been named to the men’s roster. He will join former CFL quarterback Michael O’Connor and ex-NFL player Antony Auclair on the team. Before the championships, Dequoy will attend a national training camp in California this June.
Head coach Paul LaPolice believes the men’s team can challenge for a medal in Germany. The top-two finishers in Düsseldorf will earn spots at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. The women’s team has also finalised its 24-player roster after a selection camp. Coach Rachel Lessard described the squad as 'explosive, smart, and fearless'. Their focus is now on the 2026 world championships, where they will compete for a place in the Olympics. Canada’s recent performance includes a silver medal at the 2025 IFAF Continental championship in Panama City. Both teams now prepare for the next stage in Germany, with Olympic qualification on the line.
The Canadian flag football teams will travel to Düsseldorf in 2026 to fight for world championship honours. A top-two finish would secure their place at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. The rosters feature experienced players and a coaching staff confident in their medal chances.
