Bryce Harper exits Phillies game early due to recurring migraines
Bryce Harper left the Philadelphia Phillies’ game against the Colorado Rockies early on Saturday due to a migraine. The team later confirmed the issue, marking the third time this season a Phillies player has faced migraine-related problems. Despite his absence, Philadelphia secured a 9-3 win under interim manager Don Mattingly. Harper was set to bat third but was pulled before his first at-bat. Rookie Felix Reyes took his place in the opening inning. This isn’t the first time migraines have disrupted Harper’s season—he also missed a game in May against the New York Mets for the same reason.
The Phillies’ offense thrived without him. Alec Bohm led the charge with a 3-for-4 performance, smashing two home runs and a double. Trea Turner added four hits as Philadelphia dominated the Rockies. The win improved the team’s record to 9-3 since Mattingly took over as interim manager.
Mattingly later suggested Harper could return for Sunday’s game. Before Saturday, the slugger had been batting .282 with nine home runs, 23 RBIs, and a .929 OPS. The Phillies now prepare for their next matchup, with Harper’s status still uncertain. His potential return would bolster an already strong lineup that has performed well under Mattingly’s leadership. The team continues to manage recurring migraine issues among its players this season.
