Aktobe's Museum Day Celebration Blends Crafts, Games and Kazakh Traditions
Hundreds of Aktobe residents gathered at the Regional History and Local Lore Museum on the evening of May 18. The event marked International Museum Day, turning the venue into a hub of activity with workshops, games, and traditional crafts on display. Upon arrival, visitors were welcomed by live music and themed exhibits. An improvised Kazakh fair added historical charm, showcasing household items and handmade goods from the past.
One of the highlights was the pottery workshop led by master potter Orynbasar Tulegenov. Both adults and children tried their hand at shaping clay, learning techniques and traditions from the expert. Nearby, woodcarver Galymzhan Zhalkenov displayed intricately crafted wooden items, demonstrating traditional styles. Younger guests tested their skills in the national game *Altyn Zhebe* (Golden Arrow), taking turns with bows and arrows. Others joined the *Young Archaeologist* game, digging through sand to uncover hidden relics. Photo zones also drew crowds, with visitors posing next to life-sized figures and even trying on a spacesuit for fun.
The evening brought together families, craftsmen, and history enthusiasts in a lively celebration. Activities ranged from hands-on workshops to cultural games, offering a mix of education and entertainment for all ages.
