A new Grey’s Anatomy spinoff has been officially greenlit by ABC. The show will take viewers to a rural medical centre in West Texas The project comes from Grey’s Anatomy showrunner Meg Marinis, who has led the series since Season 20 in 2024. She will serve as co-creator and executive producer alongside Shonda Rhimes, the original creator of Grey’s Anatomy. Both aim to keep the spinoff’s tone bold yet familiar, blending heart and intensity.
Ellen Pompeo, the long-time star and executive producer of *Grey’s Anatomy*, is also attached as an executive producer. The team includes Betsy Beers, a frequent collaborator with Rhimes, ensuring continuity with the franchise’s signature style. Produced by 20th Television and Shondaland, the series shifts from Seattle to a gritty, understaffed clinic in Texas. Marinis has expressed enthusiasm for introducing fresh characters and stories in this new setting. "The spinoff will explore the challenges of rural healthcare while maintaining the emotional connections fans expect.
