36th State Brass Festival Unites 350 Musicians in Historic Hornburg
The 36th State Brass Festival (LPT) is set to take place in Hornburg and Achim (Börßum) from June 5 to June 7. Organised by the Brass Band Association of the Evangelical Lutheran State Church in Brunswick, the event will bring together around 350 musicians from 53 brass choirs across the region. All performances are free to attend, with outdoor venues planned—weather permitting. The festival begins on Friday, June 5, at 7:00 PM with an opening concert at St. Mary’s Church (BMV) in Hornburg. The Brunswick State Church Brass Ensemble and the North Church Brass Ensemble will perform, accompanied by organist Julian Heider.
The following day, Saturday, June 6, kicks off with a guided tour of Hornburg at 3:00 PM, starting from the Tourist Information office. At 1:00 PM, the marketplace in Hornburg will host a grand chorale performance. In the evening, a serenade is scheduled for 7:00 PM at the manor farm in Hornburg, followed by a set from Berlin’s *Jazzpolizei*. The festival concludes on Sunday, June 7, with a festive closing service at 11:30 AM. This final event will take place at the manor house in the park of Achim (Börssum). Indoor alternatives are available if weather conditions change. All events are open to the public at no cost, ensuring everyone can enjoy the music and festivities.
The three-day festival will showcase brass music from across the Brunswick region. With performances in historic and scenic locations, it offers a mix of traditional and contemporary styles. Organisers have prepared indoor backups to ensure the event goes ahead regardless of the weather.
