Yekaterinburg faces abrupt freeze as warm spell ends by Sunday
Yekaterinburg is bracing for a sudden shift in weather, with warm temperatures giving way to a sharp cooldown by Sunday. Authorities have issued warnings as strong winds and overnight frosts pose risks across the region.
On May 9, the city will see daytime highs of +17°C with light rain. But conditions will deteriorate quickly, with Sunday’s temperatures plummeting to around +6°C during the day and +2°C at night. Northern areas will face even harsher conditions, with overnight frosts dropping to –3°C.
Russia’s Emergency Ministry has advised residents to stay indoors where possible. High winds could topple trees and break branches, creating hazards. Drivers have been urged to stick to speed limits and avoid unnecessary journeys until conditions improve.
The abrupt change in weather brings both freezing nights and strong gusts. Residents are being told to take precautions, from limiting travel to securing outdoor items. The warnings remain in place until the system passes.
