Yakutsk raises cash bus fares to 58 rubles in 2026 amid rising costs

Yakutsk has announced a rise in cash bus fares, effective from January 1, 2026. The new price will reach 58 rubles, up from the current 52 rubles. Mayor Yevgeny Grigoryev confirmed the change, citing higher operational costs as the reason. The latest increase follows a steady climb in fares over recent years. In 2023, passengers paid 40 rubles, which rose to 45 rubles in 2024. The current rate of 52 rubles will now jump by another 6 rubles, bringing the total to 58 rubles.

Mayor Grigoryev linked the adjustment to a 17% surge in fuel prices and other expenses. Meanwhile, the city is preparing to expand its fleet. A delivery of 35 new Volgabus vehicles is expected soon. These buses feature low-floor designs and working air conditioning. No updates have been given on fares for card payments or travel passes.

The fare hike will take effect in early 2026, raising the cost for cash-paying passengers. The city’s transport system will also gain 35 modern buses to improve services. Officials have not yet disclosed changes for other payment methods.
