Yakutia wrestling championship marred by two disciplinary scandals

Two disciplinary violations occurred at the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Freestyle Wrestling Championship in memory of N.N. Tarsky, according to the regional Ministry of Sports press service, which reported that chief referee Vasily Uigurov provided official clarification following the incidents.

Yesterday, the judging panel ruled to immediately disqualify Keskil Semenov, an athlete from Suntar District, for unsportsmanlike conduct during a match.

Today, another competitor, Andrei Midlovets, representing Amga District, left the podium during the awards ceremony. The athlete has since apologized for his actions and pledged to submit a formal explanation to the chief referee.

Vasily Uigurov emphasized that any behavior violating Russia's Sports Charter is unacceptable. "Upholding ethics and competition rules remains a priority for all participants," the championship's head referee declared.
