Barchfeld's 'Einigkeit' bowling club secures €90,000 for urgent renovations
Wartburgkreis is providing €50,000 in sports funding to support the "Einigkeit" Barchfeld bowling club (Kegelclub "Einigkeit" Barchfeld e.V.) in renovating its bowling alley facility in Barchfeld.
District Administrator Dr. Michael Brodführer symbolically presented the check to club representatives at the Wartburgkreis district office. Also in attendance were Barchfeld-Immelborn Mayor Ralph Groß, deputy mayors Bernd Otto and Roberto Heß, and Elvira Fischer, chair of the Bad Salzungen Sports Association.
The club was represented by its chairman, Dr. Hannes Beutel, along with other members who traveled to Bad Salzungen for the check presentation.
With this funding, Wartburgkreis is making a significant contribution to preserving the sport of bowling in Barchfeld and securing the future of a club that has demonstrated years of dedicated volunteer work in promoting sports in the region.
"The 'Einigkeit' Barchfeld bowling club exemplifies the tremendous commitment with which associations in our district dedicate themselves to sports, community, and youth development," said District Administrator Dr. Michael Brodführer. "This funding will help ensure the club's athletic prospects and create the structural conditions needed for a sustainable future."
The club members also expressed their sincere gratitude to Deputy District Administrator Udo Schilling and State Secretary Marcus Malsch of the Thuringian Ministry of Economic Affairs, who advocated for additional funding through the Thuringian State Sports Association. Earlier this year, the club was promised further support from the association.
The Barchfeld bowling club currently competes in the Bundesliga. However, due to strict league regulations, its existing bowling alley no longer meets the requirements for home matches.
As a result, home games are currently being held at the bowling club in Leimbach. To permanently improve conditions for training and competition, the renovation of the Barchfeld facility is planned.
The total cost of the first phase of renovations amounts to approximately €206,000. In addition to the €50,000 from Wartburgkreis, the municipality of Barchfeld-Immelborn is contributing €40,000.
The remaining funds will be covered by the club's own resources, donations, volunteer labor, and additional grants.
This first phase is a crucial step toward modernizing the facility. A second phase is already planned for the next funding period, which will include renovations to changing rooms, the kitchen, and other auxiliary spaces, as well as an upgrade to the heating system.
Founded in 1992, the "Einigkeit" Barchfeld bowling club has become an integral part of the region's sports culture.
Through this funding, Wartburgkreis not only recognizes the club's athletic achievements but also its role in fostering social cohesion in the community.
