Vostochik Sports Club dominates regional tournaments with gold in hockey and taekwondo

PrimaMedia, April 30. One of the standout sporting events of April was the conclusion of the Far Eastern Children's Hockey League season, where the Vostochik team delivered a stellar performance. Athletes from Vrangelya also excelled in other disciplines. Here's a look back at the most exciting sports achievements of the month from the young competitors of Vostochny Port.

12 Taekwondo Athletes Bring Home 12 Medals

A taekwondo tournament (ages 12+) in Ussuriysk drew competitors from Khabarovsk Krai, the Jewish Autonomous Oblast, and Primorsky Krai. Twelve young athletes from the Vostochik Sports Club took part—all coached by Vladimir Kim—and every one of them returned with a medal. Their haul included four golds, four silvers, and four bronzes.

In another key competition, two young female taekwondo fighters from Vostochik stood out. At the Primorsky Krai Championship in Vladivostok (12+), Miroslava Chertoprudova won silver in the under-33 kg weight class, while Kira Goncharenko took bronze in the under-51 kg category.

Over 50 Players Compete at Vostochik's Table Tennis Championships

More than 50 athletes from Vladivostok, Nakhodka, Bolshoy Kamen, Partizansk, and Ussuriysk gathered for the table tennis championship (12+) at the Vostochik Sports Club. The tournament ended in victory for a Vostochny Port representative—Ivan Anokhov claimed first place. Another Vostochik athlete, Andrey Khishchenko, finished fourth. Maxim Bauchev secured silver, while Anton Pikhtin took bronze.

Karate Fighters from Vostochik Among the Top Three

Late April saw Ussuriysk host the Far Eastern Federal District Karate Championship and Cup (12+), attracting over 900 participants from Primorsky, Khabarovsk, and Zabaykalsky Krais, as well as Kamchatka, Buryatia, Magadan, and Sakhalin Oblasts.

Tatiana Lyalina, a karate coach at the Vostochny Sports and Fitness Complex, earned third place in the kata discipline.

Her students followed suit at the Far Eastern Interregional Children's Karate Championships (12+), matching their coach's success with a third-place finish in the team kata event. Elizaveta Makerova, Sevara Soatova, and Vlada Smirnova delivered a flawlessly synchronized performance to secure their podium spot.

Vostochik Claims Silver in the Far Eastern Children's Hockey League

The Vostochik hockey team (born in 2016) spent six months working toward this moment: first advancing to the playoffs after a strong group-stage performance as one of the top six teams, then solidifying their success in the Far Eastern Children's Hockey League finals (12+), held in Birobidzhan.

In one of the tournament's quarterfinal rounds, the team from Vrangelya secured two hard-fought wins over Forward. In the semifinals, Vostochik faced Admiral in a two-game series. The first match ended in defeat, but in the second, the players snatched victory in a shootout. The third game sealed the deal—a 3:2 win in their favor, sending them to the final.

The championship trophy was contested against Khabarovsk's Amur-1. This time, Vostochik narrowly lost to the stronger opponent, finishing the tournament with a silver medal.

"Eastern Breakthrough" Gathers Six Primorye Teams

From April 24 to 26, the Vostochik Ice Sports Complex hosted the Eastern Breakthrough youth hockey tournament (12+) for players born in 2018–2019. Six teams from Primorsky Krai took part.

After all matches, the home team, Vostochik, claimed gold, Iceberg took silver, and Primorye-2 earned bronze. The remaining standings were: fourth place—Primorye, fifth—Admiral, and sixth—Granit.

Additionally, Vostochik's Platon Valkovsky was named the tournament's best forward, while his teammate Lev Baranov was recognized as the top playmaker.
