Vladivostok's busiest intersection gets a high-tech traffic light overhaul

A major upgrade to traffic lights at the busy intersection of Fontannaya Street and Oceansky Prospect in Vladivostok is set to begin. The project, starting on June 1, 2023, will replace outdated equipment and improve road infrastructure. Drivers and pedestrians should expect some disruptions during the works. The project will kick off with the replacement of old underground control cables. New poles and modern signal equipment will also be installed to improve traffic flow. Contractor Prometei LLC has been appointed to carry out the work.

To minimise disruption, the upgrades will be done in stages with partial lane closures. While the intersection remains open, some restrictions will be in place from the start date. The full scope of work includes restoring the road surface and pavements after installation. All tasks must be finished by the end of July 2023. This includes completing the cable upgrades, installing new traffic lights, and repairing any affected road sections.

The improvements aim to modernise the intersection’s traffic management system. Once completed, the upgraded signals and cables should enhance safety and efficiency. The project is scheduled for full completion before August 2023.
