Vietnam and Sweden Strengthen Ties in Green Tech and Innovation
Vietnam and Sweden have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation across multiple sectors. During a recent political consultation, both nations highlighted plans to strengthen ties in science, technology, and sustainable development. The talks also focused on expanding research partnerships and increasing investment in green infrastructure.
Foreign Minister Lê Hoài Trung emphasised Vietnam’s long-standing friendship with Sweden. He praised the Swedish government and people for their continued support and solidarity. Trung also noted that the visit would boost political trust and create fresh opportunities for collaboration.
Both countries agreed to broaden cooperation in high technology, renewable energy, and smart infrastructure. Sweden expressed readiness to invest in Vietnam’s green projects and offer financial solutions for sustainable development. The discussions also covered smart ports, circular economy initiatives, and sustainable urban planning. Trung proposed enhancing existing cooperation frameworks while exploring new ones in science, research, culture, and education. He also called for Sweden to remain a key European partner in innovation, digital transformation, and green growth. Sweden, in turn, praised Vietnam’s socio-economic progress and pledged to welcome more Vietnamese researchers and students. The two sides committed to increasing exchanges and leveraging their strategic partnership for practical projects. They also agreed to maintain close coordination at international forums.
Vietnam aims for high and sustainable growth between 2026 and 2030, driven by science, technology, and digital transformation. The latest talks with Sweden have set a clear path for deeper collaboration in innovation, education, and green development. Both nations now look to turn these agreements into concrete actions in the coming years.
