Rangers rally in the ninth to edge Rockies 5-4 in dramatic win
The Texas Rangers staged a late comeback to defeat the Colorado Rockies 5-4 on Wednesday. A ninth-inning rally secured the win, with strong performances at the plate and on the mound pushing them past their opponents. Josh Jung and Justin Foscue led the offence with three hits each. Jung’s contribution included a go-ahead single in the ninth, breaking the tie. Earlier, he scored on Ezequiel Duran’s two-run homer in the fourth, putting Texas ahead.
Duran and Jake Burger went back-to-back with home runs, extending the Rangers’ lead to 3-1. Burger’s blast followed Duran’s, giving the team a crucial advantage.
The Rockies fought back after Joc Pederson reached on catcher’s interference. He later scored the tying run on a passed ball by Brett Sullivan. However, Brennan Bernardino struggled in the ninth, allowing two hits and two unearned runs that cost Colorado the game.
Jacob Latz closed out the win with two scoreless innings. He gave up just one hit while striking out four, sealing the Rangers’ victory.
Right fielder Brandon Nimmo exited in the fifth inning due to tightness in his right hamstring. The Rangers’ win came down to clutch hitting and solid pitching in the final innings. Jung’s three hits and Duran’s homer were key, while Latz’s strong relief effort ensured the Rockies couldn’t recover. The team now looks ahead after overcoming a late scare.
