The image shows a group of women playing a game of basketball in a gymnasium with a basketball net at the top, a ceiling with rods and lights, and a wall with banners in the back. There are steps with railings leading up to the court, and many people sitting in the stands. On the right side of the image, there is a screen, likely displaying the score of the game, indicating that the women's basketball team has just won the NCAA tournament.

UCLA strengthens roster with four key transfer portal additions

UCLA has added four new players through the transfer portal ahead of the upcoming season. The group includes Filip Jovic, Sergej Macura, Jaylen Petty, and Azavier Robinson. Each brings experience from their previous programmes and will join incoming freshmen Javonte Floyd and Joe Philon.

Filip Jovic arrives from Auburn, where he averaged 6.3 points and 4.0 rebounds last season. He will enter UCLA as a sophomore with three years of eligibility remaining. Sergej Macura, a junior with two seasons left, previously played for Mississippi State, contributing 5.0 points and 4.8 rebounds per game.

Jaylen Petty joins from Texas Tech, where he posted 9.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in the 2022-23 campaign. Like Jovic, he will also be a sophomore with three seasons ahead. Azavier Robinson, another sophomore transfer, comes from Butler after averaging 6.1 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 2.5 assists last year. The quartet will team up with freshmen Javonte Floyd and Joe Philon, bolstering UCLA’s roster for the new season.

All four transfers bring varying levels of college experience to UCLA. Their arrival adds depth to the squad as the team prepares for the upcoming season. The players will now integrate into training under the coaching staff’s guidance.
