Syktyvkar's Museum Night Transforms Streets Into a Cultural Playground

Museum Night kicked off in Syktyvkar at 4 p.m. on Saturday. The event transformed the capital of the Komi Republic into a hub of cultural activities, with streets closed and venues buzzing with performances. Visitors gathered to explore exhibitions, enjoy live shows, and take part in interactive programmes across the city’s museums. The National Gallery of Komi was the first to welcome guests at 4 p.m. Inside, visitors found exhibitions, master classes, and expert-led talks. Prize giveaways, photo zones, and games added to the lively atmosphere, with activities running until 10 p.m.

Outside, Kommunisticheskaya Street turned pedestrian-only for the occasion. Creative troupes took to the streets, entertaining crowds with tambourines and Cossack saber displays. Later in the evening, a hip-hop dance crew was scheduled to perform. At 5 p.m., the National Museum of Komi and the Yugor Center for Cultural Initiatives launched their own programmes. The natural history department hosted intellectual games alongside a fashion show. Meanwhile, local food stalls offered traditional Komi dishes for guests to try. All four departments of the National Gallery remained open late, giving visitors the chance to explore art, history, and interactive experiences until closing time.

The event runs until 10 p.m., with free access to exhibitions, performances, and workshops. Kommunisticheskaya Street will stay closed to traffic through autumn, extending the pedestrian-friendly space for future gatherings. Organisers expect large crowds to enjoy the mix of art, culture, and entertainment on offer.
