Survivor Oksana B. Speaks Out After Brutal Attack Left Her Blind and Disfigured
Oksana B. has spoken publicly about the violent attack that left her disfigured and blind in one eye. Her former partner, Nikolai A., was arrested after assaulting her with a wrench in a fit of rage. The case has drawn attention to the dangers of toxic relationships and the lasting harm they cause. Oksana B. first met Nikolai A. after a difficult divorce. At first, he seemed supportive and caring. But over time, his behaviour changed—he began isolating her from friends and family while subjecting her to verbal abuse and threats.
The stalking and threats escalated until Nikolai A. attacked her with a wrench. The assault left her with severe injuries, including a broken arm, a fractured rib, and the loss of her right eye. She has since undergone multiple surgeries to rebuild the bone structure around her eye socket, with further procedures planned for an ocular prosthesis. Nikolai A. was detained shortly after the attack and remains in pretrial detention. Meanwhile, Oksana B. has appeared on the TV programme *Pust Govoryat* (*Let Them Talk*) to share her story. She now wears a medical dressing to cover part of her face and has dedicated herself to helping others trapped in violent relationships. Her public appearances aim to raise awareness about the warning signs of abuse and the importance of seeking help before it’s too late.
The attack has left Oksana B. with permanent injuries, but she continues to speak out against domestic violence. Nikolai A. faces legal consequences for his actions. Her story serves as a reminder of the physical and emotional toll such crimes inflict on survivors.
