Ottawa Charge edges Boston Fleet in Game 3 with last-second heroics

The Ottawa Charge took a 2-1 lead in their best-of-five PWHL semifinal series against the Boston Fleet. A dramatic 2-1 victory in Game 3 came down to a last-minute goal in front of a record-breaking crowd. Fans packed the arena as the team now stands one win away from the Walter Cup final.

Game 3 saw Ottawa’s goaltender Gwyneth Philips make 36 saves, including several crucial stops in the final minutes. The Charge also killed off a late penalty before Ronja Savolainen netted the winning goal with just 29 seconds left on the clock. Fanuza Kadirova had earlier put Ottawa ahead, but Liz Schepers levelled for Boston.

Aerin Frankel made 20 saves for the Fleet, keeping the game tight until the final moments. The atmosphere was electric, with 13,112 spectators setting a new PWHL playoff attendance record. The Charge now return home for Game 4, where a win would secure their place in the championship series.

Ottawa holds a 2-1 series advantage and will look to close it out in front of their home crowd. A victory in Game 4 would send them to the Walter Cup final for the first time. The Fleet, meanwhile, must win to force a decisive fifth match.
