Odisha FC's late-season surge keeps relegation fears at bay

Odisha FC secured a crucial 2-1 win over SC Delhi in the Indian Super League 2025-26 on May 8, 2026. The victory keeps their hopes of avoiding relegation alive, while Delhi remained stuck near the bottom of the table. Odisha FC took an early lead when Suhair VP found the net in the 4th minute. Just nine minutes later, K Lalrinfela doubled their advantage with a well-taken goal. Despite controlling possession, SC Delhi struggled to break through until Matija Babovic converted a penalty in the 74th minute.

K Lalrinfela’s standout performance earned him the Player of the Match award. Both he and Suhair VP received praise for their decisive contributions. However, Delhi’s inability to capitalise on their chances proved costly.

The result saw Odisha FC climb to 11th place with 10 points from 11 matches. Meanwhile, SC Delhi stayed in 10th, also on 10 points but with a worse goal difference. Odisha FC’s win provides a much-needed boost in their fight to stay in the league. SC Delhi, despite their possession, remain in a precarious position with little room for error. The next matches will be critical for both sides as the season nears its end.
