Odisha FC faces must-win clash against Bengaluru FC in ISL 2025-26

Odisha FC will host Bengaluru FC in the Indian Super League 2025-26 at Bhubaneswar’s Kalinga Stadium on Monday, May 4. The match carries high stakes, as both sides look to improve their positions in the league table. While Bengaluru sits comfortably in sixth, Odisha remains near the relegation zone after a difficult run of form.

Odisha FC enters the game on a five-match winless streak, with just one draw and four losses. Their struggles have left them in 13th place, holding only six points from nine matches. Head coach T.G. Purushothaman has stressed the need for better finishing, hoping sharper attacking play can turn their season around.

Bengaluru FC, meanwhile, has enjoyed a stronger campaign. With 16 points from 10 games, they sit sixth in the standings. Their away form has been particularly impressive—three wins and one draw so far. Coach Pep Muñoz has made it clear that his focus remains on performance and style of play rather than league position. Historically, the two teams have been evenly matched. In 16 previous ISL meetings, each side has won seven times. However, recent form favours Bengaluru, who remain unbeaten on the road this season. Odisha, though, holds a psychological edge in their last five encounters, securing four wins and a draw. A victory for Bengaluru could also benefit Mohammedan SC, who would gain ground in their own battle against relegation.

The match at Kalinga Stadium will test Odisha’s ability to break their poor run of results. Bengaluru, in contrast, will aim to extend their unbeaten away record and strengthen their top-six position. The outcome could have wider implications, particularly for teams fighting to avoid the drop.
