Marbella's Paco Cantos sports hub gets a modern makeover with 21 upgrades
Marbella’s Paco Cantos sports complex is nearing the end of a major upgrade. The project, part of the city’s Plan for the Improvement, Updating and Modernisation of Municipal Sports Facilities, has introduced new features and refurbished existing ones. Mayor Ángeles Muñoz and Sports Councillor Lisandro Vieytes recently visited the site to review progress. The renovation covers a wide range of areas within the complex. Three tennis courts, padel courts, and multi-use spaces have been refreshed, with sport-specific paint applied and new goalposts installed. Enclosures were also added to keep balls from leaving the playing areas.
The futsal pitch underwent a full rehabilitation, including crack repairs and deep cleaning. Bleachers in the frontenis zone were upgraded for better spectator comfort. Meanwhile, the cafeteria and climbing wall received aesthetic enhancements, and new shaded areas were created to provide relief from Andalusia’s heat.
Mayor Muñoz confirmed that all 21 planned improvements are either complete or well underway. She also revealed that unused spaces within the complex are being assessed for future use, with a potential municipal gym among the options. The upgraded Paco Cantos complex will soon be ready for public use. Residents and athletes will benefit from improved courts, seating, and facilities designed for year-round comfort. The project marks a significant step in Marbella’s ongoing efforts to modernise its sports infrastructure.
