Marbella's Infamous Sisu Hotel Reborn as €15M Luxury Boutique Retreat
The former Sisu Hotel in Marbella is set for a major transformation into a 5-star boutique property. The project, led by Nao Pool Clubs' Arnaud Albouhair, aims to redefine the site after years of controversy. With an investment of around €15 million, the new hotel will target the luxury market. The Sisu Hotel had a troubled history, including a fatal fire in 2020 that exposed serious fire safety failings. Investigations suggested the blaze may have been started deliberately. Legal disputes and past incidents further tarnished the property’s reputation.
The redevelopment will strip away all ties to the old name, part of a deliberate effort to reset its image. Plans include a full overhaul of infrastructure, plumbing, and electrics. The new hotel will feature around 50 rooms, larger suites, and a high-end spa.
Upgraded dining venues and a nightlife component are also in the works. Developers want to position the property as a fresh, modern destination in Marbella’s competitive luxury sector. Construction is expected to start soon, with a projected reopening around 2028. The project marks a complete break from the Sisu name and its troubled past. Once finished, the hotel will offer luxury amenities and compete among Marbella’s top-tier destinations. The €15 million investment reflects confidence in the site’s potential for a high-end revival.
