Mandaue City crafts a bold new identity to rival Cebu's top destinations

Mandaue City is taking steps to boost its role in Cebu’s tourism sector. Officials aim to align investment and development plans to create a stronger, more unified identity for the city. The move seeks to unlock new opportunities and attract more visitors. The city has begun mapping tourism assets across its 27 barangays. This effort will guide both short- and long-term development strategies. Currently, many of these assets remain disconnected, limiting their potential impact.

A key focus is building a distinct identity for Mandaue. One proposal involves combining various local festivals to create a more recognisable brand. The city also plans to introduce industrial plant tours, showcasing local products like pasalubong items.

To strengthen promotion, Mandaue will work with travel agencies and the Cebu Association of Tour Guides. These partnerships aim to improve marketing and visitor experiences. The initiative seeks to transform Mandaue into a more competitive tourism destination. By coordinating assets, creating unique attractions, and collaborating with industry partners, the city hopes to draw more visitors. The long-term goal is to establish Mandaue as a standout location within Cebu’s tourism landscape.
