Kazakhstan's summer bursts with 50+ festivals and outdoor adventures across the country

Kazakhstan is preparing for a busy summer, packed with festivals, outdoor adventures and cultural events. The Ministry of Tourism and Sports has listed over 50 major happenings in a single calendar, ensuring visitors have plenty to explore across the country.

From scenic lakes and mountain trails to food festivals and music gatherings, the season promises something for every traveller. Almaty will launch the summer with two major festivals: Beu Fest and The Spirit of Tengri. Tourists will also flock to well-known spots like Charyn Canyon, Kolsai and Kaindy lakes, and the picturesque Kegen district. The region remains a top choice for those seeking both culture and nature.

In the north, Burabay stays a favourite for its pine forests, clear lakes and solid tourist facilities. Nearby, North Kazakhstan Region offers a quieter escape, with the Kyzylzhar Toy festival scheduled for July. Meanwhile, Katon-Karagay attracts trekking fans, hosting the Altay – Golden Cradle of the Turkic World festival from July 10–12.

Eco-tourism is growing in Zhetysu Region, where the Alakol Tolkyny festival runs from July 20 to August 1. Over in Mangystau, the Aq Maya Fest in August celebrates shubat (fermented camel milk) alongside nomadic traditions. Atyrau Region is also pushing gastronomic tourism, with the Kazynaly Caspian festival showcasing local cuisine and the late-summer bloom of lotus fields near the Kigash River.

The capital, Astana, will host its own highlights, including the Bai Qymyz gastronomic festival in July and Comic Con Astana in August. With festivals, outdoor activities and cultural experiences spread across the country, Kazakhstan’s summer season is shaping up to be one of its liveliest yet. The unified calendar ensures visitors can plan trips around food, music, nature and tradition—all in one season.
