Kazakhstan's Shchuchinsk-Borovoye resort gears up for record tourist season
The Shchuchinsk-Borovoye resort area is preparing for a busy year ahead. With visitor numbers expected to rise, authorities have announced new facilities, expanded services, and major infrastructure upgrades. This year’s holiday season officially begins on June 1. The region anticipates welcoming 2 million tourists, an increase from last year’s 1.8 million. Burabay remains the most popular destination, attracting up to 85% of all visitors.
Twelve additional restroom facilities will be built, bringing the total to 41 across the resort zone. Officials are also reviewing the operating hours of public amenities in busy areas, with possible 24/7 access under consideration. Two new hotels and two new recreational areas are set to open, while two free public beaches will launch on Lakes Shchuchye and Borovoye.
Helicopter tours over the resort will continue, with plans to introduce small-plane flights as well. The region aims to secure around 15 billion tenge in private investment this year. Major infrastructure projects in the area are expected to wrap up before the season ends. The expansions and upgrades come as the resort prepares for higher visitor numbers. With new hotels, beaches, and extended services, the area is set to offer more options for tourists. The changes also reflect efforts to improve accessibility and comfort for guests.
