Kazakhstan's Night of Museums 2026 merges art, tech, and free cultural adventures

Kazakhstan will celebrate the Night of Museums on May 18, 2026, offering free entry to all visitors. The event aligns with International Museum Day and promises a mix of art, technology, and cultural activities across the country’s museums. From live performances to stargazing, organisers have planned a night of unique experiences for everyone. The National Museum of Kazakhstan will host a standout performance by violinist Nazym Mustafinova. She will share the stage with a humanoid robot and a bionic robotic dog, blending classical music with futuristic technology. Meanwhile, the National Central Museum is encouraging public contributions through its Gift to the Museum initiative, expanding its collections with donated artefacts.

Visitors can explore nighttime tours, theatrical shows, and interactive historical quests. Multimedia projects will bring exhibits to life, while outdoor areas will feature tent camps and astrotourism activities, including stargazing sessions. A dedicated section on ethnic culture will showcase traditional crafts, national games, and storytelling, highlighting Kazakhstan’s rich heritage. All museums will open their doors without charge for the evening. The event aims to make culture accessible while offering fresh ways to engage with history, science, and art.

The Night of Museums will run for one evening, with free admission for all attendees. Activities will range from high-tech performances to hands-on cultural workshops. Organisers hope the event will draw large crowds and foster a deeper connection to Kazakhstan’s museums and traditions.
