Kazakhstan's New BotAi IT Center Merges Ancient Heritage with Cutting-Edge Tech
Digital Transformation
The village of Saumalkol in Aiyrtau District has launched its 13th creative IT hub—the BotAi CREATIVE IT CENTER—marking the final phase of the Digital Aimaq project. The center blends cutting-edge technology with the historical legacy of the Botai culture.
Developed in collaboration with the Botai State Historical and Cultural Reserve, this innovative hub bridges past and future, creating a unique space for young professionals and tech enthusiasts.
The center's infrastructure includes zones for robotics and drone operation, game development and media production studios, an esports arena, coworking spaces, and IT classrooms. It will offer programming courses, digital skills training, and hands-on project development.
The hub is results-driven, aiming to generate new jobs, build expertise, and integrate artificial intelligence into the real economy. For Aiyrtau District—a region with high tourism potential—the IT center will serve as a foundation for digitizing tourist services and enhancing safety standards.
On opening day, several memorandums were signed to advance drone technology and digital competency initiatives.
The Digital Aimaq project is now nearing completion, having established a full-fledged ecosystem in the region: a regional creative center, district-based platforms, partnerships with universities, and the Astana Hub international tech park. Support comes from both government programs and the "Digital Society" party-led initiative.
Alongside tech development, cultural projects are also underway—including the filming of "Botai: Lost Worlds," a feature-length movie exploring the ancient Botai civilization.
