Jonah Chang Rigan smashes national shot put record at Asian Championships
Jonah Chang Rigan has set a new national shot put record at the 2026 Asian Throwing Championships. His throw of 18.81 metres broke his own previous best of 18.78 metres. The achievement came as he secured fifth place in a highly competitive event. The 2026 Asian Throwing Championships saw strong performances in the men’s shot put. Chen Hongfei took gold with a throw of 20.18 metres, leading the field. Chen Chengyu followed closely, winning silver with a 19.64-metre effort.
Ivan Ivanov claimed bronze with a throw of 19.41 metres. Meanwhile, Jonah Chang Rigan improved his personal and national record by three centimetres. His 18.81-metre throw earned him fifth place in the competition. Rigan’s previous national record had stood at 18.78 metres.
