Ohio State edges Washington 5-4 in a thrilling late-game comeback attempt

Ohio State secured a narrow 5-4 win over Washington in a tightly contested game. The victory extends Washington’s losing streak to seven matches, despite strong individual performances.

Ohio State dominated early, scoring all five of their runs in the bottom of the third inning. Washington struggled to respond until the fifth, when Giselle Alvarez cut the deficit with a two-run home run.

Washington’s Alexis DeBoer kept the pressure on in the seventh, launching another two-run homer. This brought the Huskies within one run, but they couldn’t close the gap. Rylee Rehbein provided a late boost from the mound, pitching 3 2/3 scoreless innings and conceding just one hit.

The loss marks Washington’s seventh in a row, despite late efforts from DeBoer and Rehbein. Ohio State held on to claim the win, leaving Washington still searching for a breakthrough.
