Homeless Veteran and His Pit Bull Finally Get a Fresh Start

A U.S. Army veteran who lived outdoors with his pit bull for nearly two years has now received a new home. Tom Miner struggled to find housing after his landlord banned pit bulls from the property. Thanks to local support, he and his dog Jake are finally getting back on their feet. Miner and Jake spent almost two years living outside after his landlord refused to allow pit bulls in the apartment. With no other options, the pair stayed together on the streets.

When Miner could no longer care for Jake, he left the dog at a Fort Worth fire station. Firefighters took him in, and Jake quickly became a beloved firehouse dog.

The Fort Worth Fire Department’s HOPE team stepped in to help Miner. They arranged medical care and connected him with Operation Texas Strong, a local charity. The organisation then donated an RV worth $11,000, giving Miner a safe place to live. Miner has expressed deep gratitude for the support he received. He now hopes to be reunited with Jake soon. The RV and ongoing assistance have provided him with stability after years of uncertainty.
