Guardians triumph while Dodgers dominate Astros in wild MLB night

Baseball saw a mix of standout performances and early exits on Wednesday. The Guardians secured a win over the Royals, while the Dodgers crushed the Astros in a lopsided game. Injuries and strong pitching also shaped the day’s results. In Kansas City, the Guardians faced the Royals with Slade Cecconi on the mound. The right-hander picked up his first victory in seven starts, helping Cleveland take the game. Meanwhile, Royals starter Jason Alexander struggled, giving up five runs in just 4 1/3 innings.

Over in Los Angeles, the Astros suffered a heavy 12-2 defeat against the Dodgers. Houston’s dugout sign jokingly read ‘Closed. Went Fishing’ after the loss. Lance McCullers Jr. had a rough outing, allowing six runs in only 2 2/3 innings. Dodgers outfielder Andy Pages powered the win with three home runs.

Elsewhere, Royals pitcher Seth Lugo delivered a solid performance in his last start, holding the Mariners to two runs over six innings. A $50 bet was placed on him and the Royals (-133) via Kalshi. In Tampa Bay, Tyler Glasnow left after one inning due to back soreness, cutting short his appearance. The Guardians’ Cecconi earned a much-needed win, while the Astros’ pitching faltered against the Dodgers. Glasnow’s early exit adds to Tampa Bay’s concerns. Meanwhile, Lugo’s strong form keeps Kansas City’s rotation steady as the season progresses.
