Government expands voluntary life insurance to more high-risk industries
Who Will Be Affected?
The government has expanded the list of industries in which employers can take out voluntary life insurance policies for their employees. However, in some cases, restrictions apply that may impact workers' future pensions, notes Zerkalo.
A new Council of Ministers decree broadens the list to include high-risk occupations where employees face an elevated likelihood of injury.
"The updated list now covers postal services, courier and auxiliary transport activities, warehousing, architecture, engineering surveys, technical testing, and analysis," the government clarified.
Additionally, the Council of Ministers has added industries where employers may provide such policies if they participate in voluntary supplementary pension schemes.
"The list has been expanded to include temporary accommodation and food services, information and communications, real estate transactions, automobile (and motorcycle) sales and parts, computer and personal item repairs, laundry and dry cleaning, hairdressing and cosmetic services, funeral services, as well as private households employing domestic staff or producing goods and services for their own use," the government explained.
The decree also specifies that "the organization's primary economic activity must align with the sectors eligible for voluntary employee life insurance policies."
