Goslar's New Metal Exhibition Unveils 66 Untold Rock Stories

A new exhibition celebrating the history of heavy metal is set to open in Goslar. 'Emperors, Cults & Chaos: 66 Stories from Hard Rock and Metal' will launch at Museumsplaza on Saturday, June 6, at 11 a.m. The event promises live music, guest speakers, and a collection of rare memorabilia spanning decades of rock culture. The exhibition will display nearly 200 items tracing heavy metal’s evolution—from its early days to the local Goslar scene. Many artifacts come from private collections of dedicated fans in the region. The Rockharz Festival, a key partner, has also contributed pieces to the showcase.

On opening day, Mayor Urte Schwerdtner and curator Dr. Jan Habermann will welcome visitors with speeches. Local band OP3 will then take the stage, performing a live set to kick off the celebrations. While the main exhibition charges €6 for adults, children, teens, students, and school pupils enter for free. Beyond the paid exhibition, the Museumsplaza will host free activities, including a Rockharz presentation in Raum Beroun. The entire event runs until December 31, 2026, offering months of access to metal history and live performances.

The exhibition brings together rare collectibles, live music, and expert talks under one roof. Free entry for young visitors and public events on the plaza aim to make the experience widely accessible. Organisers hope the showcase will draw both longtime metal fans and newcomers to Goslar’s cultural scene.
