A reunion seemed unlikely from the start. Now, with Olszewski sidelined, the Giants still bet on their current receivers—no Beckham Jr. in sight.

Giants pass on Odell Beckham Jr. despite receiver injury setback

The New York Giants have decided against signing wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. after a recent visit and workout. The team’s choice follows an injury to another receiver, Gunner Olszewski, who suffered a season-ending Achilles tear. Beckham Jr. visited the Giants on 20 April for a workout. Despite his past success with the team, a reunion was always unlikely. New York already had strong depth at wide receiver, making his signing a low priority.

Before the decision, Gunner Olszewski had been taking a full share of practice reps as a receiver. His season ended abruptly when he tore his right Achilles tendon. The injury removed one option from the Giants’ roster but did not change their stance on Beckham Jr. The Giants will move forward without Beckham Jr. for now. Olszewski’s injury leaves a gap, but the team’s existing receivers remain in place. No further signings have been announced.
