Ford Pro's bold three-year European plan blends EVs, software and rugged new models
Ford Pro has unveiled a three-year plan for Europe, focusing on passenger cars, commercial vehicles, and digital services. The strategy includes new models, expanded software offerings, and a push for zero-emission mobility that balances ambition with practicality.
The company is also rolling out vehicles like the Ranger Super Duty and Transit City, designed for tough industries and urban fleets alike. Ford’s new strategy centres on four key areas: passenger cars, commercial vehicles, software, and services. The brand’s global platform, Ready-Set-Ford, is built on three pillars—Build, Thrill, and Adventure—to guide its product and service development.
For commercial customers, the Ranger Super Duty arrives with an 8-tonne towing capacity and a near-2-tonne payload. It targets sectors like emergency services and mining. Meanwhile, the all-electric Transit City van will come in a standard high-spec model and three variants, including a chassis option for bespoke conversions.
On the passenger side, Ford is refreshing its lineup with five all-new multi-energy models by 2029. These will draw inspiration from the brand’s motorsport heritage. The company also stresses a realistic approach to zero-emission mobility, insisting that targets must match consumer demand and charging infrastructure.
Software and services play a growing role, with Ford Pro aiming for 25% of its earnings to come from digital solutions. Uptime Services, which uses real-time vehicle data to predict faults, already connects over 1.2 million European customers. A new Dealer Uptime Services programme will extend this to small businesses, promising to halve repair times and catch 80% of issues before they cause breakdowns.
Strategic partnerships will further strengthen Ford’s position in Europe. These collaborations aim to speed up development, reduce costs through economies of scale, and add value across both commercial and passenger segments. The three-year plan sees Ford expanding its commercial and passenger offerings while pushing deeper into software and services. New models like the Ranger Super Duty and Transit City will cater to heavy-duty and urban needs, respectively.
At the same time, predictive maintenance tools and strategic partnerships are set to improve efficiency for businesses. The company’s approach to zero-emission mobility remains tied to market readiness rather than fixed deadlines.
