FC Augsburg secures Manuel Baum's future with contract extension until 2028

FC Augsburg has confirmed that Manuel Baum will stay on as head coach. The club announced his contract extension until June 30, 2028, following a strong season. Management praised his work in turning around the team’s performance. Baum took charge during a difficult period in autumn 2025. Under his leadership, Augsburg secured their third-highest Bundesliga finish, ending the season in ninth place. The improvement earned recognition from club officials.

His existing coaching team will remain intact. Alexander Frankenberger, Frank Fröhling, and Felix Kling continue as assistant coaches, while Benedikt Brust stays as match and video analyst. Michael Weirich will also keep his role as goalkeeping coach.

Michael Ströll, the club’s managing director, highlighted Baum’s impact on the squad. Sporting director Benni Weber similarly credited the coach and his staff for revitalising the team’s fortunes. The contract extension ensures stability for Augsburg heading into the next season. Baum’s coaching team remains unchanged, maintaining continuity after a successful campaign. The club now looks to build on its ninth-place finish in the coming year.
