EVG union wins landslide victory in Deutsche Bahn's works council vote

The EVG trade union has secured a strong victory in Deutsche Bahn’s latest works council elections. With over 85 percent of the vote, the union saw a near ten-point rise compared to its 2022 performance. The result highlights growing support for its role in representing rail and transport workers. Works council elections serve as a key measure of employee confidence in labour representation. EVG, which advocates for staff across various rail and transport sectors, dominated this year’s ballot. The union’s share jumped from around 76 percent in 2022 to more than 85 percent in the current vote.

Deputy chair Kristian Loroch described the outcome as a 'huge success'. The union believes the result confirms its efforts to defend workers’ interests within Deutsche Bahn. Employees appear to have backed EVG’s approach to negotiations and workplace conditions. The election outcome strengthens EVG’s position as the leading voice for Deutsche Bahn staff. The union now holds a clearer mandate to push for further changes in labour policies. Officials will likely use the result to reinforce demands in future discussions with management.
