Ecatepec's Ramp Park reopens as a vibrant hub for sports and community life

Ecatepec’s Ramp Park has reopened after a full rehabilitation, offering a fresh space for sports, family activities, and community gatherings. The project, backed by Governor Delfina Gómez Álvarez and several state agencies, aims to bring residents together while improving local safety and urban life. The newly revitalised park now serves as a central hub for the neighbourhood. Its inauguration included youth boxing tournaments, soccer matches, skateboarding displays, live music, and games for all ages. Officials estimate that around 12,000 residents will benefit from the upgrades.

Juan Hugo de la Rosa García, the state’s mobility secretary, stressed the importance of reclaiming public spaces. He noted that the project enhances the urban environment, boosts mobility, and encourages social interaction. The initiative also draws on data from the National Urban Public Safety Survey (ENSU) by INEGI to measure its impact on perceived safety. Horacio Duarte Olivares, the State of Mexico’s secretary general of government, echoed these sentiments. He highlighted how such efforts help rebuild social cohesion and restore public areas for community use. Governor Delfina Gómez Álvarez and local lawmakers—including Zaira Cedillo Silva, Carlos Martínez Zurita, and Edmundo Luis Valdeña—attended the event to show their support. Duarte Olivares reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to funding similar projects. The goal is to extend these improvements across Ecatepec and the wider region, making public spaces safer and more welcoming.

The park’s transformation reflects a broader push to strengthen community ties through urban renewal. With sports, family activities, and enhanced safety measures in place, residents now have a dedicated space for recreation and connection. Authorities plan to expand these efforts to other areas in the coming months.
