Dumanjug edges closer to Calderon Cup title after Game 1 victory

Dumanjug took an early lead in the Calderon Cup after beating Malabuyoc in Game 1 on May 8, 2026. The 21-Under Inter-Town Basketball Tournament is part of a grassroots programme by Congresswoman Patsy Calderon in Cebu’s seventh district. Game 2 will now take place in Dumanjug on Saturday, May 9. The first match saw strong performances from key players. Jhun Miguel Telmo led the scoring with 19 points while also grabbing 18 rebounds. TJ Tejedor added 18 points, and Cleveron Jay Fernandez contributed 10 points along with 3 assists.

Dumanjug now aims to secure a second win and claim the first-ever Calderon Cup title. Meanwhile, Malabuyoc is determined to force a Game 3 and shift the series back to their home court.

The outcome of Game 2 will decide the championship. If Dumanjug wins again, they will become the inaugural Calderon Cup champions. A victory for Malabuyoc, however, would extend the series to a final showdown.
