Cebu Greats rally past Imus Yangke in MPBL with Hontiveros' three-point heroics

The Cebu Greats secured a 91-77 victory over Imus Yangke in the MPBL on May 8, 2026. Led by veteran sharpshooter Dondon Hontiveros, the team overcame a nine-point half-time deficit to improve their season record to 4-2. Hontiveros topped the scoring for Cebu with 18 points, all from beyond the three-point line. His performance, alongside his son Ice—marking them as the second father-son duo in MPBL history—helped turn the game around after a slow start.

Mark Meneses delivered a strong all-around game with 16 points, 6 rebounds, 3 steals, 3 blocks, and 2 assists. Wowie Escosio added 12 points and 8 rebounds, while Simon Camacho contributed 11 points and 9 boards. Paul Desiderio also chipped in 11 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists. Imus Yangke’s Joseph Mark Marquez led his team with 18 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists. Despite his efforts, Cebu’s second-half surge proved too much to handle.

The win moves Cebu Greats to a 4-2 record in the league. Hontiveros’ three-point shooting and a balanced team effort were key in their comeback victory. Imus Yangke, meanwhile, will look to regroup after the loss.
