Deadly Houston crash claims one life after driver loses control in heavy rain

A fatal crash took place in southeast Houston late on Friday night. The incident occurred on East Orem Drive near Mykawa Road, leaving one man dead at the scene.

The accident happened around 9:30 p.m. when a driver lost control of his vehicle while heading west on Orem. Witnesses reported that the car hit a puddle, skidded, and then collided with a concrete barrier. Heavy rainfall and standing water likely contributed to the loss of control.

The victim, a Black man in his mid-30s, was the only person in the car. Emergency services arrived after another motorist stopped and called 911. Authorities confirmed the man’s death at the scene. No further details about the victim’s identity have been released so far.

The crash remains under investigation, with weather conditions considered a key factor. Police have not yet provided additional updates on the cause or any possible charges related to the incident.
