Coyoacán unveils five refurbished indoor soccer courts ahead of World Cup

Five newly refurbished indoor soccer courts have opened in Coyoacán, just over a month before the World Cup begins. The upgraded facilities in Pedregal de Santo Domingo and Santa Úrsula were officially unveiled by Mayor Giovani Gutiérrez. The project forms part of a wider plan to modernise over 20 courts across the city ahead of the tournament. The renovation was carried out through a joint effort between the Mexico City government, a local non-governmental organisation, and a leading enamel and paint manufacturer. Speaking at the inauguration, Mayor Gutiérrez highlighted the importance of collaboration in delivering successful public projects.

The upgraded courts are now ready for use, with improved surfaces, markings, and amenities. This initiative aligns with a city-wide push to enhance sports infrastructure in preparation for the upcoming World Cup.

With 31 days remaining until the World Cup, the newly renovated courts will provide better training and recreational spaces for local communities. The project also sets a precedent for future partnerships between public, private, and non-profit sectors in improving urban facilities.
