Cebu faces 'danger' heat index of 42°C with isolated storms ahead

Cebu is bracing for another day of scorching temperatures as the heat index climbs to dangerous levels. While the province will see mostly fair skies, some areas may still experience brief rain showers later in the day. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) has warned that Cebu’s heat index could hit 42 degrees Celsius. This level falls into the ‘danger’ category, where heat stroke becomes likely with prolonged exposure.

Fair weather will dominate most of the province, but mountain barangays should prepare for isolated thunderstorms and rain showers in the afternoon and evening. The combination of intense heat and sudden downpours could create abrupt changes in conditions. Residents are advised to stay hydrated and limit outdoor activities during peak heat hours. The high temperatures are expected to persist, with afternoon thunderstorms offering only temporary relief in upland areas.
