Cần Giờ transforms into Vietnam's premier eco-tourism paradise by 2025
Cần Giờ is set to become a major international marine ecotourism destination. The district’s focus on sustainability and natural beauty aligns with the growing demand for green travel experiences. Officials aim to position it as a unique hub that blends conservation with high-quality tourism. The shift in global tourism towards nature-based and eco-friendly trips has put Cần Giờ in the spotlight. Travellers now seek destinations that offer green experiences, cultural depth, and sustainable practices—all strengths of this coastal area.
Cần Giờ serves as HCM City’s 'green shield', protecting the region from climate change while offering vast potential for ecotourism. Instead of copying famous tourism models, planners want to build its identity around mangrove ecosystems, coastal landscapes, and southern Vietnamese traditions.
Key projects include luxury eco-resorts, wellness tourism, and sustainable lifestyle activities. The district also plans to develop signature green souvenirs and large-scale entertainment complexes to extend visitor stays. A green growth model will ensure economic benefits do not come at the expense of the environment.
Once transport links improve, Cần Giờ will play a vital role in HCM City’s expanding economic, tourism, and logistics network. Its strategic location and ecological value make it a cornerstone of the city’s future development. HCM City’s tourism sector is projected to lead Vietnam by 2025, with revenue exceeding VNĐ278 trillion (US$10.5 billion). The city expects 46 million domestic and 8.6 million international visitors, and Cần Giờ could become a key driver of this growth. Its sustainable approach and unique offerings may set a new standard for ecotourism in the region.
